1976 Ford Bronco Ranger – Complete Restoration & Coyote V8 Conversion

This beautifully restored 1976 Ford Bronco Ranger was originally purchased from a longtime owner. Although it had previously received a mild restoration, the vehicle retained its original running gear before arriving at our shop for an extensive restoration and modernization.

The project began with a complete restoration that included a powder-coated frame and the installation of a new Ford Gen 3 Coyote 5.0L V8 engine producing 460 horsepower, paired with a Ford 10R80 10-speed automatic transmission. Additional improvements included a complete wiring harness, upgraded cooling system, single fuel tank conversion, and roll bar.

The exterior retains the unmistakable appearance of the classic Bronco Ranger, featuring a vibrant orange finish, contrasting white lower accents, chrome trim, and a removable white hardtop.

Inside, the restoration preserves the Ranger’s distinctive vintage character with a body-color dashboard, traditional instrumentation, wood-rim steering wheel, and tan upholstery with patterned seat inserts. Original-style controls and trim complement the modern automatic transmission shifter, creating an interior that blends classic styling with modern functionality.

Two Broncos, One Owner

This 1976 Bronco Ranger is one of two classic Ford Broncos owned by Adam Gordan of Healdsburg, California. Adam commissioned our shop to completely restore and modernize both vehicles, including this 1976 Ranger and a 1971 Bronco. Although the Broncos feature slightly different orange finishes and distinctive exterior configurations, both received essentially identical Coyote V8 drivetrain conversions and extensive mechanical upgrades. Together, the two projects required approximately two years to complete.

Special thanks to Frank at Power By The Hour for his technical assistance and the many components supplied throughout the project. We also sourced numerous parts from Tom’s Offroad in Medford, Oregon.

The result is an exceptional classic Bronco Ranger that retains its vintage appeal while benefiting from modern V8 power, a sophisticated 10-speed automatic transmission, and extensive mechanical improvements. A truly enjoyable build that performs every bit as impressively as it looks.
